Popped by while doing a dumpling crawl in Chinatown. Cash is king. Was on the hunt for a pork bun, but unfortunately they were sold out for the day. Tried the Mini Winter Melon cakes and - YUM. Just the right amount of sweetness and flaky cake.

Great and quick service. They get you in and out quickly. Food quality was good and very consistent. Coffee is on point. Can't find better cheap eats than here!

Quick service, a few stools to sit on but otherwise a grab and go place. Pork buns were tasty.

I found this bakery to have the best pastries in china town. The roast pork buns are my favorite but I've tried basically all of the different varieties . I recommend this bakery and I Will definitely be back every time we are in the area and recommend anyone looking to have a nice snack or light lunch.

Showed up here around 7PM on a Sunday, 1 hr before closing. The previous reviewers are right - prices get slashed the later you go. I don't think they were even marked when I went, I just selected 5 buns and they charged $3.50. Cash only, and honestly who cares when the prices are that low. The buns are solid, standard quality comparable to competitors in the neighborhood. They have a decent selection of both sweet and savory, really nothing fancy or elevated about this place, just your typical pineapple buns, pork buns, etc. I will come here if I happen to be in the very immediate area (i.e. south of Chatham Square) - otherwise there's a lot of other good competition in the other corners of Chinatown depending on where you're at.

I was here around 6:00 PM and as noted by others, it gets dirt cheap the later the place is open. I got two egg custard tarts/dan tats here for 1.50. Yes you read that right. The tarts were hot and fresh and very buttery with a strong egg flavor. Quite a good version here and I didn't have the issue some others noted where they tasted a bit old regardless of the time I got there. It might not be super close to the main touristy area but is that really a problem when the tarts were both fresh and delicious? It's still easily walk-able from Mott/Bayard. The women working there were also very friendly. I'll go back and get another egg custard tart or a cha siu bao which someone else in there was getting. Looked quite good. They also had a wide selection of moon cakes though they appeared to be moved around/labeled a bit off. 4.5.

This is my favorite bakery in Chinatown. The pastries taste fresher than the others! Good pineapple buns, buns stuffed with custard and egg tarts. Just be warned that they run out by late afternoon.

Manna One and the sketchy bakery on the same block always competes for my attention. What brings me back for more are her breakfast sandwiches and the voice recording for 2/$1.75 buns beckons to me Manna's call. Must-buys in the mornings are their breakfast sandwiches. My favorites are the sausage and egg, ham and egg croissant, and fish sandwich. These go on sale after 12 and go fast. After 2pm til close, look out for curry puffs, chicken tail buns, and other bakery favorites. Buns get cheaper closer to close, usually 7pm. But remember that these sales only apply to buns and not items like cookies, loaves of bread, and non-bun items. Now this is not my favorite bakery, but then again I don't have a favorite yet. This is an old reliable. Tip: My general rule of thumb is if the place uses light cream in milk tea, there's a bun here worth eating.

This is my favorite Chinese bakery! PERIOD. I mean EXCLAMATION POINT! I grew up and lived in the same neighborhood until I reached my adulthood. In other words, I grew up eating buns from Manna and perhaps, my intellect and awesomeness are due, in part, to their buns and drinks. Since moving out of the nabe, I often make an effort to stop by to say hi to the ladies who have been employed by the bakery for decades, and to stuff my face with more of their delicious egg tarts, plain buns, pork buns, pineapple buns, croissants, curry puffs ... you get the gist. They also make great iced drinks and hot coffee, so order a large one! Oh Manna, how I miss thee. I wish there were more Chinese bakeries like you around.
